TOOTING boss Mark Beard has this week boosted his frail defence by raiding two league clubs for promising youngsters.

Ireland youth international Pat O’Connor has signed from Millwall, while Elliott Cox has moved to Imperial Fields from QPR.

Both players have agreed one-month loan deals, with the option to extend the agreements if it suits all parties.

The Terrors lost 3-0 at home to Sutton on Tuesday, taking their goals conceded tally to 11 in four matches.

And that sloppy showing prompted Beard to take swift action.

“I’ve moved quickly to try to address the problem by bringing in these two young lads,” said the manager.

“They are both first-year pros and they bring with them that attitude that comes from being with a league club.

“They are used to training every day so I’m sure they will help us."
