And the 32-year-old Bermondsey scrapper is determined to take his big chance against the Scot, who is coming back as a lightweight after nine months out.

“I go in as a big underdog but I prefer that because all the pressure is on him,” said McDonagh, whose career-best win was a fifth-round stoppage of Michael Gomez in 2006.
