CRYSTAL Palace boss Alan Pardew has confirmed a deal is close for Lille left-back Pape Souare - and that it is set to conclude the club's transfer activity in the January window.

The Eagles confirmed deals for QPR midfielder Jordon Mutch and free agent Shola Ameobi earlier today.

And Souare, who has been away with Senegal at the African Cup of Nations, is also imminent.

Palace have already brought in Arsenal striker Yaya Sanogo on loan for the second half of the campaign.

Pardew said: “The process [for Souare] is way down the line but the player isn’t in the country. His game (at the African Nations Cup) only finished 24 hours ago so he is travelling back.

“He will come straight for a medical, hopefully today if we get the hospital to scan him, and once he passes that then he will be signing.
